How-To: Adjust the column width to fit contents - OpenOffice.org Calc

It is possible to quickly adjust the width of a column to fit its contents. In this example we will adjust first the column "Mar" or march.
Do this by moving your mouse over the left boundary of the column like so....
then, double click on it.
Great! It has adjusted itself automatically to fit its contents. You can do this on all columns that you want to adjust.
The maximum width of a "auto-fitted" column will always follow the longest entry in the cell. Watch the action again as we adjust this May column.
In this case the $18.00 and $21.00 cells are the basis for this column's length.
Now, when you type in a longer entry...
...like this January entry...
...then it would be the basis of the width. Note that you will have to re-adjust the column width again as you type in new content.
