Fill cells with numeric values - OpenOffice.org Calc

How-To: Fill cells with numeric values - OpenOffice.org Calc
  1. Calc has a feature that lets you fill in consecutive numbers in cells easily.
  2. To use this AutoFill feature, first type in the starting number you want for the series. In this case we are putting in the number one.
  3. Next, click on the cell where the number is.
  4. Now, on the bottom right corner of the cell selection box, you will see a black square. This is the "fill handle."
  5. Click and hold the left mouse button on it.
  6. Afterwards, while holding the button move the mouse downwards.
  7. A red outline appears. This indicates the selected cells that will be filled in by numbers..
  8. Just release the button when you have finished selecting cells.
  9. Once the button is released, the cells selected will be filled with the numbers. Notice that they have appeared in order from the first cell.
  10. You can of course do this for rows as well. Just click again on the first cell.
  11. Next, find the fill handle and click and hold the left mouse button on it.
  12. Now, move your mouse to the right. Notice again the red outline indicating the cells being selected.
  13. Now just release the mouse button to place the numbers.
  14. Great! You now know how to use the auto-fill feature for numbers.
