How-To: Save spreadsheet as a Text CSV file - OpenOffice.org Calc
- To save a spreadsheet as a "comma separated values" file or a "Text CSV" first click on the "File" option here.
- Then, on the menu that drops down, click on the option "Save As..."
- The "save as" window should open. Choose a location for your file using this area here, and then decide on a file name using the appropriate field below.
- Next, look for the "save as type" field here and click on this down arrow or triangle to view the list of file formats.
- Then, on the list that drops down, click on the option "Text CSV (.csv)
- Once done, click on "Save."
- Afterwards, the "export of text files" window should open. This lets you decide from several field options.
- Just click on these down arrows to choose from the field options. Currently, these are the options for the characer set.
- You can also change the "field delimiter" as well as the "text delimeter here.
- You can also check on these objects for the options for saving the cell content as shown, and setting a fixed column width.
- Once you've chosen what you want click on "OK" here.
- You may get a message warning you that only the currently active sheet was saved. This is a normal reminder for "CSV" files. Just click on "OK."
- Great! We have saved the spreadsheet as a "comma separated values" file or "CSV" file.
