Character Spacing
Character spacing refers to the space between one
character
and the next one
in a word.
Different fonts
define different character spacing values to
suite different styles, such as narrow and wide.
Character spacing can be adjusted for a given style
.
In OpenOffice.org are three settings. There is the default setting,
which follows the space value determined by the font designer.
There are also the expanded or condensed settings
that increase or decrease the character spacing respectively.
Character spacing is a similar concept as
font kerning
.
