Character Style
The character style
refers to the way a character appears on screen. This includes the style
of its font,
if it is bold, italicized or underlined,
its size
and sometimes the order in which the characters
are written on screen.
Different character styles are used for different purposes when writing a document. Titles will have
different character styles than the body of text. Footnotes and Endnotes have different font sizes and styles
from other text.
In more creative documents other font effects
might be used to express something creatively. Also, in other languages, characters may read and written
inversely from the western way of writing.
In OpenOffice.org Writer,
there are may pre-set character styles
that can be used to quickly change the style of characters to a number of common formats found in documents.
Character styles are also related to other style categories
such as theparagraph style.
