Clipboard
The clipboard is short term memory set aside by the
operating system
,
shared by all applications
in use. It stores content, such as
text
,
images
,
charts, files
,
and other objects
.
The clipboard is used for cutting (or copying) content from a document and
pasting it elsewhere. The windows clipboard has only one unit of storage.
cutting

copying
) content
automatically and irreversibly overwrites
the old content of the clipboard.
