Docked Window

A docked window is a that is attached to one of the four borders of the overall working area.

The opposite of a docked window is a .

Especially , a special form of window, can be docked or detached. This UI concept allows to pull an often used window closer to the area of work, such as the image toolbar or the find dialog. In other situations the toolbar can be docked so it is always in the same position, which makes finding it easier. It is a matter of personal preference where to place a particular tool and even this preference might be altered in different situations.

The state of all toolbars, whether docked or detached, is saved with the last window closed and restored when the application is opened the next time.
