Drop Cap
A drop cap is an oversized first character
of
paragraph
.
A drop cap character
usually spans several lines below its
original baseline
in the paragraph.
It can also have its own formatting style, such as a decorative font type.
Drop caps are mainly used to indicate the start of a chapter
or section.
It is reminiscent of an old way of writing in books or newspapers.
Open Office Writer also allows the first word of a paragraph to become a drop cap.
