Field Name
A field name is the name of a field
in a document.
A field name can be freely chosen, however it is customary to
describe the type of expected value
,
because the field name
also serves as it label.
For example, if you want to use a field for a recipient's e-mail address, you would name the field "Email Address."
You can toggle OpenOffice to view the field names or the field values in a document.
A field name is similar but not the same to the concept of
field-labels
for input fields in database applications.
