Placeholder
A place holder is (as it name implies) a place or area reserved for something. In applications
these areas
are usually used for a user to input or replace the place with his/her own data or response,
such as in a field
or variable.
It can also be a place where data or content are dynamically changed by the application or the user
himself/herself such as the changing page numbers in documents, or file names.
Basically, place holders are used so that the user knows what information or data a certain area or field can accept. It also determines the type of data that is dynamically and automatically entered by an application for the document being created.
Using placeholders
The following screencasts demonstrate how to use placeholders:
- View or add the slide number
- Set the date and time format of the slide to variable (dynamic)
- Set the date and time format of the slide to fixed
