OpenOffice.org Release 1.0.X
The first release of OpenOffice.org
was release 1.0 May 1st, 2002 shortly followed by 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3 and release 1.0.4.
Sun Microsystems bought in 1999 the office suite
StarOffice,
together with its German company StarDivision .
Shortly after this purchase, Sun Microsystems decided to release the source code
to the office suite as open source under the name OpenOffice.org.
Sun Microsystems builds its commercial product StarOffice 6 based on OpenOffice.org releases 1.0.x source code.
- Release 1.0.0 was released May 1st, 2002
- Release 1.0.3 was released May 2st, 2003
Release 1.0.3 was succeeded by release 1.1
in September 2004.
Using Release 1.0.X
The following screencasts demonstrate Release 1.0.X:
- It is recommended to use Release 1.0.X only if no newer version is available.
- Release 1.0.X is the only release of openOffice.org that does support Microsoft Windows® 95. Therefore, it is recommended to use release 1.0.3 for computers with Windows 95.
- We recommend, if possible, upgrading to the latest
release of OpenOffice.org
