Status Bar

The status bar is a bar with small windows displaying information about a document easily at a glance. It is usually found at the bottom of and is usually updated realtime as you create a document.

The information displayed in the status bar vary from application to application but there are a few common ones that are set to appear by default. Starting from the left of the bar they are:

  • Position field - This displays the current location of the cursor. It displays the sheet or page numbers and their total.
  • Page Style - This displays the current type of paragraph of page style that has been set for the text.
  • Zoom - This indicates the level maginification or zoom that the currently opened file is viewed in.
  • Insert Mode - This tells you the kind of input mode currently in effect in the document. This tells you if the text will be overwritten as you type them or if they are pushed forward by new text.
  • Selection Mode - This indicates if you are in the Standard (STD), Extended (EXT) or Add (ADD) mode while selecting.
  • Modified Flag - This shows an asterisk or star (*) when the document hasn't been saved yet after being modified.
