How-To: Enable the warning when not saving in the default file format - OpenOffice.org
- To enable the warning that appears when not saving in the default file format, first open any OpenOffice.org application and click on the "Tools" option here.
- Next, on the menu that drops down, click on "Options..."
- The OpenOffice options dialog window should open.
- You should see a menu tree on this side of the window. First we'll clear up the menu by "collapsing" the OpenOffice.org category.
- Just click on the "minus" sign here to do this.
- Good! Now, look for the "Load/Save" option and click on the plus sign beside it.
- A set of other options should appear. Click on the "General" option.
- You should then see several loading and saving options appear on this side of the window.
- Now, look for the checkbox marked "Warn when not saving in OpenDocument or default format." Click on the checkbox to enable this option.
- Afterwards, just click on "OK."
- Good! Now, let's check if the warning was indeed enabled. Click on the "File" option here.
- Then, on the menu that drops down, click on the option "Save As..."
- Once the menu opens, choose a location for your file here and then...
- ...type in the file name you want for the document.
- Remember as well to click on this down arrow, and choose a file format OTHER THAN the default. (the default is usually in OpenDocument format)
- Afterwards, click on "Save."
- Great! As you can see the warning has been enabled.
- Just click on "Yes" to continue.
