How-To: Upgrading Open Office on Windows
- Upgrading Open Office is almost the same as installing it.
- First find the installer for the latest version of Open Office to upgrade.
- Then double-click on it.
- A dialog opens telling you that the installer has to unpack some files for the installation.
- Click next to start unpacking.
- This displays where the installation files will go after unpacking them.
- If you want to change the locaton just click on "browse..." and choose the path you like.
- If you're ready just click "Unpack"
- Just wait for the unpacking to finish.
- The Installer immediately activates after unpacking.
- The Open Office Installation Wizard dialog window opens.
- To start the installation just click next.
- At the start of the Installation you will see the Open Office License Agreement
- Please try and read through the Agreement.
- You must accept the License Agreement to continue with your upgrade.
- Click the "I accept..." button to Agree with the License.
- Afterwards just click next.
- Here you are asked for some customer information.
- Write your preferred User Name here.
- You can also write the name of your company or organization here.
- After that Just Click next.
- Since we are upgrading Open Office, it is recommended that you choose the complete option for the setup type. Just click on "complete."
- Once you have chosen, click next.
- Here you can setup Open Office to open Microsoft Office files.
- Just check the box if you want Open Office to automatically open these kinds of files.
- Click here to specify Word Documents.
- Click here to specify Excel Spreadsheets,
- and this one for PowerPoint Presentations.
- After choosing just click next to continue.
- Now you are ready to start the upgrade.
- Just click install.
- Now, just Wait for the upgrades to finish installing.
- Good! The upgrade has finished. Click on Finish to exit the Installation Wizard.
- Now, It would be a good idea to delete the unpacked installation files.
- Find the unpacked installation folder. It is usually where you put the installer file as well.
- Then right-click to bring up a menu.
- Click on delete.
- Click yes to confirm your deletion.
- Congratulations! You are done Installing your upgrade!
