How-To: Create a formula using the context menu - OpenOffice.org Math
- This screencast demonstrates the procedure on how to create formulas using the context menu in OpenOffice.org Math.
- Now to start, move your mouse over the Math command window over here, and right click over it to bring up the context menu.
- Once the context menu opens, you should see categories for operators, functions, symbols and format options. For this example we are moving our mouse to the option "Unary/Binary Operators."
- A side menu should appear revealing the options for your chosen category. In this case we see several common operators that are used in formulas.
- Now, click on the option that you want to use for the formula. For this example we are clicking on "a + b."
- Good. As you can see the operator we chose has appeared here. Note that there are question marks representing values that we haven't entered yet. We'll deal with that later.
- We are on our way in creating our formula. To expand it, we're going to use the context menu again. With one of the "question marks" selected right click over the command window.
- We are going to replace the question mark we selected using another operator. When the context menu opens, move your mouse over the "Unary/Binary Operators" option again.
- Next, click on an operator that you want to use.
- Good! We have expanded our formula. Just continue on repeating this process to expand or add more operators, functions, symbols or formatting options.
- Once the formula is complete, you can now replace the question marks with numbers, variables or other symbols. Just erase the question marks and type in the values that you want to use.
- Great! We have created a formula with the help of the context menu. Congratulations!
