How-To: Enter a Logarithm with a base ten (10)- OpenOffice.org Math
- To enter a common logarithm function, or a logarithm with the base ten, first click on the "math commands window" here.
- Next, once the cursor appears, type in the word "log" for "logarithm."
- Afterwards, type in an "underscore" ( _ ). Do this by pressing and holding the shift key and then pressing the "dash" (-) key once. Afterwards release the shift key.
- Then, enter the base that you want to use enclosed in "braces" or "curly brackets" like this.
- Since we are writing a common logarithm we are using the base "10." Type it in like this.
- Then, type in the "number" for the logarithm. In this case we are using the variable "x." Type it in enclosed in a parenthesis like so.
- Great! We have entered a logarithm function with a base 10. Congratulations!
