How-To: Enter a "square root" function - OpenOffice.org Math
  1. To enter a "square root" function first click on the "math commands window" here.
  2. Next, once the cursor appears, type in "sqrt." This should place the square root symbol.
  3. Afterwards, enter the number, variable or expression that you want under the square root. Enclose it in "braces" or "curly brackets" like this.
  4. In this example, we are entering the expression "x+y."
  5. Great! The "square root" function has been entered. Congratulations!
