How-To: Enter a tangent function - OpenOffice.org Math
  1. To enter a tangent function, first click on the "math commands window" here.
  2. Next, once the cursor appears, type in "tan."
  3. Afterwards, enter the angle that you want to use for the tangent function. In this case we are going to use the greek character "alpha" as the variable.
  4. The markup for "alpha" is "%alpha." Just type this in enclosed in a parenthesis like so.
  5. Great! We have entered a tangent function! Congratulations!
