How-To: Demote a chapter using the navigator. - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. You can use the navigator to demote a chapter.
  2. To do this first click on the chapter you want to demote. For this example we are going to use "Phasellus quis."
  3. Then, move your mouse and find the "demote chapter" button here. Click on it once.
  4. Notice that the chapter "Phasellus quis" has now moved down under the "Suspendisse" chapter.
  5. Just keep clicking on the demote button until the chapter has been demoted to the place you want.
  6. As you can see, the "Phasellus quis" chapter is now the last chapter of the document.
  7. Next, it will be a good idea to update the table of contents so that it reflects the new changes we've made.
  8. Double-click here on "Table of Contents" to move the table into view.
  9. Then right click on any part of the table. A side menu should appear. Next, click on "Update Index/Table."
  10. Great! The "Phasellus quis" chapter is now indicated to be the last item on the table of contents.
