How-To: Format first line indent. - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. It is possible to manually set the "first line indent" of a paragraph.
  2. To do this, first click anywhere on the paragraph to select it.
  3. Now, go here and click on "Format."
  4. Next, in the menu that appears click on "Paragraph..."
  5. The paragraph dialog window should appear.
  6. Under the "Indents and Spacing" tab you will find several indentation options.
  7. You can see the three main indentation options here.
  8. Directly across each of them you will find these numbered fields. They indicate the values for adjusting the indentation options.
  9. For this example we are adjusting the "First Line Indent." Its can be adjusted here.
  10. Just click on the "up" or "down" buttons to increase or decrease the first line indent.
  11. Once you're done just press OK.
  12. Great! Notice that the first line of the paragraph has been indented.
  13. Congratulations! You can now format the "First Line Indent" of a paragraph.
