How-To: Format the space above a paragraph. - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. It is possible to adjust the space above paragraphs.
  2. Do this by first selecting the paragraph by clicking anywhere on it.
  3. Next, click on "Format."
  4. On the menu that opens, click on "Paragraph..."
  5. The paragraph dialog window appears.
  6. Click on the "Indents & Spacing" tab if it isn't already open.
  7. Look for the paragraph spacing options here. Find the option "Above paragraph"
  8. Across it, there should be a numbered field that indicates the current value of the spacing above the paragraph.
  9. Click on these arrows to increase or decrease the value of the space.
  10. For our example we have increased the spacing above the paragraph to 0.24"
  11. Once you're finished just click on OK.
  12. Notice that the space above this paragraph has now increased.
  13. Great! You have learned to adjust the spacing above paragraphs.
