How-To: Format Selected Text in Bold - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. To format your text and make it "Bold," first you must select it.
  2. First, click and hold the left mouse button near the start of your text.
  3. While holding the button, move your mouse to slowly select the text you want.
  4. Notice the text becomes highlighted as you select it.
  5. Once you're done release the mouse button to stop selecting text.
  6. Now go to the formatting toolbar and find the "Bold" icon here. Click on it once.
  7. As you can see the text has now changed and is now "Bold"
  8. Great! You now know how to change the font to "Bold."
