How-To: Create New Text Document - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. We assume an empty OpenOffice application.
  2. To create a new text document, click on the "File" menu.
  3. Select the "New" menu item from the menu.
  4. Select the "Text Document" item from the sub menu.
  5. To enter text to your document, click in the "Main" window.
  6. You can recognize a new (unsaved) document by the title "Untitled", possibly followed by a number.
  7. Done.
