How-To: Open a Microsoft Word Document - OpenOffice.org Writer
- To open a Microsoft Word document in Writer, first click here on the "Open" button. It should be the one with the folder icon.
- The "Open" window should appear. On this area, you should see the files that you can open, including Microsoft Word documents.
- To make the search easier though, look for the "Files of type" field here and click on its down arrow.
- A list of file types should appear. Click on the option "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (*.doc)."
- Good! Only the word documents should now be displayed. Just click on the document that you want to open.
- Afterwards, click here on "Open."
- Great! We have opened a Microsoft Word document using OpenOffice.org Writer. Congratulations!
