Open a Microsoft Word Document - OpenOffice.org Writer

How-To: Open a Microsoft Word Document - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. To open a Microsoft Word document in Writer, first click here on the "Open" button. It should be the one with the folder icon.
  2. The "Open" window should appear. On this area, you should see the files that you can open, including Microsoft Word documents.
  3. To make the search easier though, look for the "Files of type" field here and click on its down arrow.
  4. A list of file types should appear. Click on the option "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (*.doc)."
  5. Good! Only the word documents should now be displayed. Just click on the document that you want to open.
  6. Afterwards, click here on "Open."
  7. Great! We have opened a Microsoft Word document using OpenOffice.org Writer. Congratulations!
