How-To: Open a password protected document - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. To open a password protected document, first click here on "File."
  2. Next, on the menu that drops down, click on "Open..."
  3. The open dialog window should open.
  4. Now, look for the password protected document you want to open and click on it once.
  5. Afterwards, click here on "Open."
  6. A window should open asking for the password for the document. Type in the password for the document and then click on "OK."
  7. Great! The password protected document has been opened. Congratulations!
