- OpenOffice.org Writer looks like this if no text document is open.
- To open an existing text document, click on the "File" menu.
- Select the "Open" item from the menu.
- The "Open" dialog appears.
- Navigate to the text document that you want to open.
- Click on the file to open, for example "1Write-up.odt".
- Click on the "Open" button.
- The file "1Write-up.odt" is available for editing in OpenOffice.org Writer.
- The document text is shown in the main window.
- To start editing, click anywhere in the main window.
