How-To: Remove the password protection of a document - OpenOffice.org Writer
  1. To remove the password from a protected document, first make sure that the document itself is open in Writer.
  2. Now, click on the "File" option here.
  3. Next, on the menu that drops down, click on the option "Save As."
  4. The save as window should open.
  5. Now, look for the checkbox marked "Save with password." Uncheck it by clicking on it once.
  6. Afterwards, just type in the filename you want if you need to change it and then click on "Save."
  7. If you used the same filename as before, you will be asked if you want to overwrite the previous file. Click on "Yes" if you want to do this.
  8. Great! We have removed the password from this document. Congratulations!
