How-To: Save a text document with password protection - OpenOffice.org Writer
- To protect a document with a password, first with the document open, click on the "file" option here.
- Next, on the menu that opens, click on the option "Save As..."
- Once the save as window opens, look for the checkbox marked "Save with password."
- Click on it once to protect the document with a password.
- Afterwards, just decide on the filename and click on "Save."

- Since we used the same file name you may be asked if you want to overwrite the original unprotected file. Click on "yes" to continue.
- Next, you will be asked to enter the password you want to use. Just type it on the field provided, and then repeat it on the confirmation field.
- Once done, click on "OK."
- Great! We have protected this document with a password. Congratulations!
