How-To: Set Multiple Tab Stops - OpenOffice.org Writer
- In this screencast, nonprinting characters like this are shown to clearly illustrate tabs and tab stops.
- Now, it is possible to set multiple tab stops all at once. Do this by first selecting the paragraphs where you want to place the stops.
- Just highlight the paragraphs that you want by clicking and dragging the mouse over them.
- Next, click here on "Format."
- Afterwards, in the menu that appears, click on "Paragraph..."
- The paragraph dialogue window appears.
- If it is not open already, click on "Tabs" here.
- Make your first tab stop here by first typing in the position of the tab stop. For this example we are putting in "0.30"
- Next, choose the type of tab stop you want. Just click on the choices here.
- We are choosing the "Right" tab stop type for this first one.
- Now, click on "New" to create the tab stop.
- Good! The first tab stop has been created.
- Just repeat the process for the next tab stops. Enter the position here...
- Choose the tab stop type here...
- Then click on "New."
- Just repeat the process again and again for the next tab stops.
- Once you're done creating all the tab stops, click on OK.
- Great! As you can see the text has moved to match the new tab stop positions.
- Congratulations! You have learned how to set multiple tab stops all at once.
